10 ways to stay fit throughout the school day

These+exercises+will+keep+you+in+shape.
These exercises will keep you in shape.

It’s February, and students have a lot on their minds. There’s Valentines Day — ah! love! romance! chocolate! There’s Presidents’ Day break — thank you Presidents, for giving us a four-day weekend. We can’t wait to catch up on sleep. Also, thanks for governing our nation and all.

There are also a few things this month we may not have been thinking about as much as we should have been. When was the last time you heard the phrase “new year’s resolution”? And when was the last time you actually thought about keeping that resolution?

If your resolution was to be healthier, chances are, a french fry or two — or fifty — has somehow crept its way into your mouth. It’s also plausible that you haven’t actually run a mile every day, like you pledged to on January 1.

If getting fit is on your to-do list for 2015, don’t rush for that exercise tape quite yet.

There are plenty of things you can do between classes throughout the school day that will keep you in tip-top shape, guaranteed.

Now presenting, The Carlmont Guide to Health:

  1. Jumping Jacks

Do ten of them every time you see a couple “embracing” in the hallway during a passing period.

  1. Take the stairs rather than ramps

Everytime you see someone take a selfie, race your friends by doing high-knees up the stairs.

  1. Lunges

Do them when the person in front of you is walking at turtle speed. They’ll make your legs toned and possibly prevent you from doing the slightly rude walking-around-said-turtle-really-hurriedly-while-muttering-under-your-breath thing.

  1. Jogging

All you have to do is spot a freshman rushing to class near you. Then, set a personal goal to stay at the same speed as them all the way to your next class.

WARNING: You may get sweaty after this. They run extremely fast when getting to class. There is still no explanation for this.

  1. Lifting Weights

This is a simple activity to do during lunch when you are finished eating. While regular dumbbells will do the trick, they are difficult to bring to school and stash in your locker. Though they are a much heavier substitute, freshman backpacks also function if you’d like to build some muscle tone.

  1. Holding a plank

There are many benefits to this exercise. You will achieve strong abs, toned arms, and, as an added bonus, you can act as a table during class. If, and only if, you are holding perfect form, the teacher may mistake you for just another piece of classroom furniture. No quiz for you today!

  1. Crab Crawl

Easy to do through the hallways during passing period, this stomach-defining exercise comes in handy when your back is sore due to carrying books. Simply prop the heavy textbooks on your stomach– and remember to watch out for all the people standing up and walking like human beings around you.

  1. Push-ups

Do one for each club mentioned during the pre-lunch announcements.

  1.  Squats

Do three each time someone cuts you in the hot lunch line. A toned butt is the best revenge.

  1. Sprints

Do them straight out of the classroom when your teacher comes toward you with your graded test in hand.

Hopefully, these 10 revolutionary exercise techniques will help you to achieve your dream bod.
