Senior games are a tradition that spread across every sport at Carlmont. It’s a memorable day for seniors playing their last game on their home field.

This tradition lived on on Thursday as senior players Taylor Yzaguirre, Jackie Li, Emma Stainton, Shawna McDonough, and game MVP Lauren Reiley played their final game in the regular season.

“I feel really proud of myself and excited, coming from JV last year and being played at a position I would never expect to play this year, makes see how I have grown as a player. It shows the hard work I have put in,” said Reiley.

Reiley went two-for-three at the plate with a double and two RBIs in the 10-0 beat down of the now 1-14 Capuchino Mustangs.

“I have been playing on the Carlmont softball team for the past four years and having it be over, besides CCS, makes me sad but happy at the same time because of the fact that I accomplished something amazing,” said Reiley.

Currently, the Scots hold the third seed in the Central Coast Section tournament that includes teams from as far away as King City and Hollister, California such as first-seeded San Benito High School. The CCS tournament even features closer to home teams such as the tenth-seeded Sequoia Cherokees.

“For CCS, we have many goals, but our main goal is to win the whole thing. Our team this year alone is really strong and I believe we can make it that far. We have played most of the teams competing this year and we have played well against them. I believe that if we keep our focus and stay one as a team, there is no doubt that we can win CCS,” said Reiley.

The Scots hold a first round bye that pins them up against the winner between Salinas and Los Gatos. Behind the battery of Rebecca Faulkner who has a 16-2 record with a impressive .72 ERA while batting .433 on the season and senior catcher Taylor Yzaguirre who is batting .429 with 19 RBIs, the Scots hope to make a deep run into CCS and avenge their CCS championship loss from last year.
