Editorial Policy

The Highlander, Scotlight, ScotCenter, and Scot Scoop are publications completely run by the students of the Journalism classes at Carlmont High School. Story ideas are generated by the students, and the published content is up to the discretion of the editorial staff.

We intend for this area to be used to foster healthy, thought-provoking discussion. Comments are expected to adhere to our standards and to be respectful and constructive. As such, we do not permit the use of profanity, foul language, personal attacks, or the use of language that might be interpreted as libelous. Comments are reviewed and must be approved by a moderator to ensure that they meet these standards. Scot Scoop does not allow anonymous comments, and Scot Scoop requires a valid email address. The email address will not be displayed but will be used to confirm your comments.

Scot Scoop uses social media to share our content with the community. Likes and shares by our social media accounts do not indicate endorsement. Any comments on our social media posts that include the use of profanity, foul language, personal attacks, or the use of language that might be interpreted as libelous will be reported and reviewed by the staff of the social media website.
