Rain washes away league golf tournaments

[media-credit id=41 align=”alignnone” width=”217″][/media-credit]On March 14 and 15, the Carlmont golf team was set to play against Mills and Terra Nova, but were canceled due to consistent rain all week long.

“We usually reschedule for another day, when the weather is nice. But it’s not a big deal, because we will play them eventually,” explained golf player Jack Tilly.

Rain like this makes is difficult for the players to hit the ball and make a hole because of the puddles that intervene with the swing.

Playing in these conditions is a hazard for the player and the surrounding players, especially when a club becomes wet and someone could lose the grip and hit someone; causing severe injuries.

There have been cases where people on the sidelines are hurt by the hitter due to a loose grip on the club.

But for the Carlmont Scots, this isn’t a problem.

“When we don’t play, we don’t practice because the weather does not permit it,” said golf coach, Patrick Smith.

For the players this isn’t a major problem because this allows them to do homework or practice in a closed range to perfect their hits.

Any game that is canceled will be rescheduled for a better weather condition, usually in late April.
