Students Save the Music

On Sunday, the yearly Save The Music Festival was going on at Twin Pines Park.

The festival is a fundraising event put on by School-Force meant to help put money into the seven schools in the Belmont-Redwood Shores School District: Fox, Nesbit, Cipriani, Redwood Shores, and Sandpiper Elementary Schools; and Ralston Middle School.

There were different activities happening throughout the park- a Kid’s Activity Zone, a Children’s Zone, as well as three different stages which held a variety of musical performances.

The Kid’s Activity Zone had a tye-dying area, a 4H Club booth, a Bookmobile from the Belmont Library, a frisbee spin art booth, and a Girls and Boy Scouts booth.

The Children’s Zone had a musical instrument petting zoo where children came to play various instruments, there were face painting areas, train rides, bounce castles, and games.

There were appearances from Carlmont’s Chamber and Treble Clef Choir, as well as Carlmont’s Drumline, Symphonic Band, and Carlmont’s Dancers.

Though Carlmont did many performances, they were not the only school to perform. Ralston Middle School’s Choir performed as well as the church choir Lumina.

Many Carlmont students volunteered to work at booths and got involved with their community.

“It’s been pretty good [the festival]. It’s really steady and there are a lot of familiar faces,” stated Mei-Lin Okino, a volunteer at the festival.
