Young professionals working for Google and Cisco will be coming to the Belmont Library on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM to discuss their the steps they took in order to work in the technology world as well as what occurs during a typical work day.

Sisters Kristine Kuan and Katherine Kuan are both former students of Carlmont and later went on to pursue engineering at UCLA and M.I.T. Kristine works as a DevelopmentTest Engineer in the Networking division at Cisco and Katherine works on the Android Apps team as a Software Engineer for Google.

They will be discussing what they needed to accomplish in college in order to become engineers, including what classes they had to take and what those classes were like. The different areas of engineering and which avenue is best for aspiring engineers will also be discussed as well as career opportunities that are presented to graduates interested in that field.

“They will be going over a typical day at their jobs, how often products they work on will be released, the pros and cons of their job, salary, and their favorite engineering projects,” replied Dolly Goyal, Teen Services Librarian.

Light refreshments will be provided as well at the possibilities of gifts from Google and Cisco.
