Junior year can be stressful. College looms in the near future, SAT and ACT tests seem to happen every other weekend, and extracurriculars repeat day after day.

Being an athlete can be stressful. Coaches yell, practices are every day, sometimes twice a day, and competitions are every week.

Morgan Hawes is not your average junior; she swims for both the Alto Swim Club and Carlmont High School’s varsity swim team.

She’s not a regular student-athlete, either; Hawes is training to meet Olympic Trial times.

According to CollegeSwimming, Hawes is ranked 126th out of all female swimmers in the class of 2021. She is also 10th in California.
