Carlmont’s girls tennis has undergone many changes this year between their new coach, Amina Doar, and their new courts.

Because of their almost daily practice over the summer and during the school year, the girls’ tennis team is well prepared for this upcoming season.

Although the team has only competed at one official meet, their track record started out well with their first victory.

“[Doar] teaches us great skills and gives us good tips. She also conditions us a lot, but its worth it in the end,” commented Tarilyn Won.

The team also played one practice match against Norte Dame, where they also claimed victory.

“[Doar] spends more time having us condition compared to the other coach, but it helps us build endurance which helps us in our tennis matches,” Won explained.

“She definitely puts more emphasize on conditioning. Although I am not the biggest fan, I know it will ultimately help us build endurance, strength and technique that enhances our tennis skills,” stated Taylor Choye, “Unfortunately, I haven’t seen the new courts yet but I’m very excited to play on them and I know the rest of the team is too.”

The newly paved tennis courts will be used for the first time tomorrow at the varsity match against Sacred Heart.
