Yesterday evening, the Belmont Library hosted world-renowned author Anthony Horowitz from the UK talking about his newest novel, a Sherlock Holmes adventure, The House of Silk.

The audience was a variety of ages ranging from school age children to World War II veterans and had some people coming from as far as New York.

Horowitz was able to reach out to such a diverse group because of his young adult novel series Alex Rider, The Power of Five, and The Diamond Brothers, but also for being the creator and writer of the Independent Television Network series Foyle’s War which was more known among the older audience members.

Horowitz was avid in talking about his works and spoke in a very fluid manner.

Jenna Castillo, a Carlmont student who attended the event, said, “Horowitz was really funny and entertaining. And he was really informative in explaining his different works which ranged from novels to TV series. I loved his accent.”

Another student, Avalon Pellegrini, stated, “He told so many funny stories. I think my favorite one was that his wife built him a freeway for his TV series Foyle’s War.”

Horowitz answered questions pertaining to his Sherlock Holmes novel, the Alex Rider series and Foyle’s War.

He was very enthusiastic, charming and instantly captivated the audience when he came up to the podium.
