The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Narcan, a 4-milligram naloxone hydrochloride nasal spray, for nonprescription use. Naloxone is a medicine that can effectively reverse an opioid overdose. However, its cost is the main obstacle preventing Narcan from being widely implemented. For those without insurance, Narcan can cost around 100 dollars. This often means that those who need it cannot afford it. Narcan is life-saving, and capitalism should not stand in the way of preventing survival and recovery. [Emma Yin]
