Cartoon: Pending peril

Despite ongoing efforts to control the worsening state of the Earth in recent years, global warming and environmental crises continue to rage on. The planet’s temperature has risen significantly since the 1800s, with no sign of cooling back down. Although pollution and global warming pose a significant threat, there are ways to help preserve the planet and prevent the problem from worsening. For example, taking public transportation or riding a bike instead of driving solo helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which goes a long way toward contributing to the fight against pollution and climate change. Another way to reduce one’s footprint is to be mindful about where garbage ends up. Sorting household trash into recycling, landfill, and compost helps prevent one’s garbage from ending up in the same place. It’s vital to practice sustainability and care for the environment, not just on Earth Day, but every day of the year. (Grace Stiefel)
