Along with the release of the highly anticipated video game “Hogwarts Legacy” emerged a heated debate over its related controversies. The anti-trans views of the Harry Potter series author J. K. Rowling have led any project within the Wizarding World Franchise to be subject to boycotts, review bombs, and online harassment. A particularly vocal section of twitter has been harassing people who admit to playing the game, claiming that doing so means supporting transphobic views. However, the franchise is now arguably larger than Rowling herself, especially as she was not involved in the creation of the recent game. While criticisms of Rowling are justified, the harassment of those who developed or play the video game is not. (Tymofiy Kornyeyev)
