New York City has a law that requires them to provide a bed to any homeless person who asks. However, they also have a 30-day limit on that bed. Once 30 days is up, the homeless of New York are once again turned to the streets and have to take a number to find a place to sleep again. The numbers of people without proper shelter at night are now up to the 1700s.

A Forbes Health Survey revealed the top revolutions for 2024. It reports a recent trend of people opting for fitness goals over mental health goals which were popular in recent years. However, experts say that physical activity actually boosts mental health, allowing both goals to be met.

On the second day of Donald Trumps defamation trial, brought by writer E. Jean Carroll, the judge threatened to remove Trump from the courtroom. Trump was asked to lower his voice as both the jury and the victim could overhear his audible commentary on the case. This is not the first trial where Trump has misbehaved; in a civil fraud trial with Judge Arthur Engoron in New York state court, Trump was warned that he would be removed as a witness. Throughout the trial, Trump showed visible disagreement through hand gestures and facial expressions, as well as referring to the judge as a Trump hating guy before his departure.

On December 16th, three Isreali hostages waving a white flag were mistakenly shot by Isreals forces, killing them. Since then, there has been an outpour of support and reporting on the three mens lives and families. However, this coverage sharply contrasts with the lack of coverage on Palestinian victims - who have no way of communicating with the outside world and humanizing their losses.

The Texas Supreme court pulled the brakes on a lower court allowing an abortion to a woman with a fetus with fatal conditions. Texas has strict abortion laws and a statewide ban on abortion, presenting scenarios like these where the mother and childs life may be in danger. For the sake of human life, abortion should be legal nationwide.
