Carlmont college counselor Ms. Connie Dominguez hosted a college information night in the student union on Thursday, Feb. 24.
The night began with an overview of the different UC and CSU campuses in California and the requirements necessary for admission to these colleges. Dominguez went on to explain how a student can make his or her application more unique so that they stand out during the application process. She pointed that it is important to demonstrate one’s leadership skills and outreach to the community.
In addition to the UCs and CSUs, Dominguez also mentioned how to apply for private colleges as well as out-of-state colleges. She also highlighted the main differences between the UCs and CSUs, like available majors, learning style, and the size of the facilities.
Dominguez focused on the importance of taking the proper exams, like the SAT and the ACT. She also stressed how crucial it is to submit one’s applications on time and to include accurate information.
She also created a spring timeline for juniors that she recommends to be followed in order to have a successful application process.
