With the changing of seasons comes new album releases and fresh tunes to beat back the winter blues. Hundreds of artists are now touring the Bay to take part in the long-awaited “Rocktober” shows.
City and Colour is performing Oct. 18 at the Fox Theater in Oakland. Canadian indie folk artist Dallas Green runs the one-man production, and is known to incorporate elements of harmonica, banjo, and lap steel into the dominant acoustic guitar.
Green is sure to play tracks from his newest album, ‘The Hurry and the Harm,’ in addition to old favorites such as “The Girl,” “Sleeping Sickness,” and “Comin’ Home.”
Oakland’s iconic music hotspot does not only support smaller, foreign musicians. The Fox welcomes Boston’s Passion Pit on Oct. 21 for a night of synthpop and will host The Naked and Famous on Oct. 25. The Auckland-based alternative rock band will bring their American tour to a close by performing hits including “Young Blood” and “Punching in a Dream.”
Big venues mean big names. More than 20,000 fans will descend upon Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View to see The Killers perform on Oct. 26 as part of the Bridge School Benefit.
Whether the Las Vegas quartet play old standbys such as “Mr. Brightside” from their debut album or “Runaways” off of their latest LP, they are sure to put on a great show.
Tame Impala will rock the stage at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium this Halloween, Oct. 31. Chart-topping tracks like “Elephant,” “Mind Mischief,” and “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards” will be performed by the Australian sensation. It seems the psychedelic rock project has only good things ahead of them.
