A new entry in Carlmont’s history books was made as Carlmont varsity won its pre-season match up with Palo Alto High School on Wednesday, Nov. 28. They also won their first game under the lights on Dec. 1.
Two goals by Michel Gonzales and two goals by Justin Harpster inked the win in Carlmont history books.
“The team played really well. They definitely stepped it up from the first game against Mills,” said varsity coach AJ Beloff. “It was big [for the team]. I think it was a huge motivation in the game too. It was their first game on the new field so I really think it gave them some extra motivation to play really hard. They wanted to get the first win on the field his year. Hopefully that’s a pattern for the rest of the year.”
The team looked excited to be playing and seemed to have more motivation to go get the win.
‘[We are] making good passes, and making the runs off the ball,” said varsity player Brandon Moyle. “We have a good team and I know we can win a lot of games under the lights or just on that new field.”
Carlmont hopes to continue their winning ways throughout the season but know that they need to keep improving.
“I think the boys need to just keep improving and know that there is never enough hard work to be done. They always gotta keep going. They can’t stop when they think they reached the point where they are good enough because nobody is perfect,” said Beloff.
