Q: What are the different safety measures for in-person learning?

A: While in the red tier, the student body will be split into four groups (A, B, C, and D) at a capacity of 25% that will be allowed on different days.

Before students leave home, they will be required to fill out screening questions regarding COVID-19 exposures and symptoms through an online system called Frontline. On-campus, the administration will verify whether the survey was completed before the student can attend their classes.

If the answers determine that the student isn’t at risk of having or spreading COVID-19, they are cleared to go on campus. If the questions are answered such that the student might have come into contact with COVID-19, they will be flagged and must communicate with the school’s health team to determine the student’s risk.

All people on campus must wear masks at all times while on campus, and social distancing will be enforced.

In the classroom, desks will be six feet apart, and each will have a Plexiglas barrier. Teachers will also likely have a Plexiglass barrier surrounding their workspace. Desks will be sanitized before and after each class.

When moving from class to class, students will be asked to have a specific pathway to each class that remains the same for the entire year. To prevent congestion in the hallways, hallways will be one way.

For lunch, schools are looking into creating different remote kiosks so that students aren’t all in the same place getting lunch. Lunch spots will be assigned based on student schedules six feet apart.

Students will be asked to use restrooms based on proximity to their classes to avoid congestion (for example, if they have their class in the S Hall, they must use the bathroom there. Custodians will sanitize the restrooms regularly throughout the day.
