Scots ‘Instagram’ their lives

The newest fad in social media is Instagram, which is a mobile application for photo editing and sharing.

Instagram, launched as an iPhone app a little over a year ago, has already claimed a spot on over 15 million phones and is the number one most downloaded app at the moment.

With its extreme success, Instagram is now available on Android phones as well, and has already received millions of downloads. Android was not the only one to take notice of the success of Instagram; Facebook has recently bought Instagram for one billion dollars.

With Instagram’s 17 original filters, easy sharing features to major social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr, and quick accessibility with the touch of a finger, it’s not surprising how popular this app has become.

Cailin Greenburg said, “It can make any picture look beautiful and it’s an artistic way to connect with friends.”

Rather than just being the traditional photo editor, Instagram allows one to follow other users’ photo collections with the capability of “liking” or “commenting” on the posts as well.

“It’s really enjoyable to browse my friends’ Instagram pictures; I definitely like it better than Facebook,” Greenburg added.

Many users agree that the most appealing feature of the app is its quick and easy nature.

Instagram has instilled itself into social networking, and is showing no signs of stopping anytime soon.
