The latest fad sweeping across Carlmont, as well as the rest of the country, is the game Temple Run.

In the game you play as an explorer, just like one you would find in an Indiana Jones movie, running away after you take the golden idol.

Once the game starts, you start running because you are being chased by scary looking, skull faced, monkeys. It is the users job to keep the explorer on the path, following the infinite turns of the course and its many hurdles. The movements are simple, and with a slide or tap of the finger, the explorer will jump, turn, and slide through obstacles.

The game has been out just five months but now receives around 500,000 downloads a day. After months of holding the number one spot in free applications in the Apple App Store, Temple Run has been bumped down to second after having over 20 million downloads.

Hallie Freitas, a junior at Carlmont, gushed over the game saying, ” Oh my god! I love Temple Run! I play it on my friends phone all the time. It’s so addicting. Once you get started you can’t stop. But it needs to come out on Andriods because I don’t have a iPhone.”

As of now the application only available to Apple users, although there are reports that the game should be available to android users in the coming months.

Without a doubt, Temple Run has become a widely played game on campus and can be quite distracting when trying to do something like homework.
