Tennis: Carlmont V. Burlingame

At the Carlmont Scots v. Burlingame Panthers varsity girls’ tennis match on Sept. 22, the Panthers were more aggressive and on the offensive than the Scots, according to players Teresa Dvorak, Cori Sidelo, and Tarilyn Wong. That aggressive style served the Panthers well, winning them the match.

When asked how she felt at the end of the match, Dvorak said, “We all did our best, and we still had fun.” The interviewees all agreed that the Scots could work on consistency. Dvorak also said there aren’t many other teams who play like Burlingame.

Varsity girls’ tennis expects to serve up a winning season this year, thanks to their great new coach, Amina Doar. Our lady scots will practice as hard under her direction as in the past, if not harder. They will do what players do after a loss: You go down, you come back even harder.

The next match is against the Menlo-Atherton Bears, who will be facing our players on our home court on Sept. 27. That will be the Lady Scots’ sixth match of the 2011 season.
