A young girl and her father scour a library’s shelves for new books to read. In many places, the number of banned books has become so high that children are discouraged from reading. “I was reading a lot of sci-fi in late elementary school, but I don’t think I turned out as a bad human because I read some books that had either sexual or violent content in them,” said Derek Wolfgram, the director of the Redwood City Public Library.
