BFD and Outside Lands lineups released

This week, music fanatics have received news making them want to run out and buy festival tickets as soon as possible. On April 21, line-ups for BFD and Outside lands, the Bay Area’s two biggest music festivals, were released.

In the past, these festivals have featured performers such as Passion Pit, 30 Seconds to Mars, Matt and Kim, Vampire Weekend, and many other alternative bands. Paul McCartney even performed at last year’s Outside Lands. The line-up from last year created high expectations for potential attendees this year.

“I knew the line-up wasn’t going to be as fantastic this time around because last year the head-lining bands were wonderful, but I’m still excited for this year’s [line-up],” said junior Jenna Mourad on the Outside Lands festival.

This years BFD line-up includes performances from Walk the Moon, MS MR, and others on the sub stages during the day, along with local Bay Area bands, such as the French Cassets and The Hundred Days. The headlining bands take the stage in the evening. The line-up includes MIA, Foster the People, Fitz and the Tantrums, Phantogram, and New Politics.

“I’m super disappointed in the BFD line-up for the opening stages,” said Mourad, “But I am really excited for MIA and Foster the People. They’re going to bring great energy to the stage.”

Junior Donna Ghaemi said “I am really excited for this year’s line-up because they have some bands I really like performing [on the smaller stages].”

The Outside Lands festival lineup includes almost twice as many performers, necessary to cover its three-day time span. Some of the most notable performers include Tom Petty and the Heart Breakers, The Killers, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, the Arctic Monkeys, Tiesto, The Kooks, Grouplove and many more.

Kanye West is also among the most famous and highly advertised performers at this year’s 2014 Outside Lands festival.

“I really love the fact that Kanye West is playing at Outside Lands this year because it definitely brings diversity into the line-up,” said Mourad.

With Outside Lands already being sold out, and BFD tickets going on sale April 26, the set list was released at the right time to pump up buyers, and excite them for the acts they are going to see. Many are preparing to purchase tickets to BFD as early as 6AM on April 26 just to get to see the bands play in the festival.

The line-ups being released stirred up excitement in the music loving community as the festival dates approach.
