Cartoon: Children, not laborers

A recent crackdown on 50 children working illegally for the butchery, Packers Sanitation Services Inc. (PSSI), has federal investigators looking into its ties to illegal labor and human trafficking. The children working at PSSI attended school during the day. According to court documents and police reports, they worked overnight in dangerous conditions– some as young as 13 were found with chemical burns from strong cleaning chemicals. Child labor deprives youth of their childhood by being detrimental to their mental and physical development. (Emma Yin)
