Procrastination is a growing issue that affects students’ productivity, stress levels, and mental health. According to Psychology Today, many teens procrastinate because they feel overwhelmed by pressure, anxiety, or fear of failure. According to PubMed Central, procrastination is linked to increased stress, lower academic performance, and negative effects on emotional well-being. According to PubMed Central, procrastination can become a harmful cycle in which avoiding tasks temporarily reduces stress but ultimately increases feelings of guilt and anxiety. Students should begin managing responsibilities earlier and develop healthier habits before procrastination turns small tasks into overwhelming problems. (Kayla Huang)

Kayla Huang (Class of 2028) is a sophomore at Carlmont, and this is her first year of writing for Scot Scoop. She takes several leadership roles in school clubs such as Genesis Club and Key Club.
