Cartoon: Less is More

The recently-proposed Assembly Bill 2932 requires all businesses in the state of California with over 500 employees to change the workweek from 40 to 32 hours. Despite this legislation’s agreeable premise, any overtime would be compensated at a rate of one-and-a-half times, meaning that workers could easily continue working 40-hour weeks to earn more money, sharply increasing labor costs.
