Chrissy Teigen and other celebrities waitressed at the One Fair Wage event in West Hollywood to raise awareness about the sub-minimum wage earned by restaurant workers, which stands at $2.13 an hour at the federal level. This practice is permitted by law, and workers rely on tips to compensate for their low wages. However, this meager wage should be deemed illegal. The federal minimum wage should be increased to prevent restaurant workers and others from living in poverty. (Emma Yin)
