In the Oscar awards show’s 95-year history, Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh became the first Asian woman to win lead actress. Yeoh won for her marvelous, shape-shifting role as Evelyn Wang in the Academy Award-winning film Everything Everywhere All at Once. In her acceptance speech, Yeoh said, “For all the little boys and girls who look like me watching tonight, this is a beacon of hope and possibilities. This is proof that dreams do come true.” (Emma Yin)
