Cartoon: Oscars Smackdown

Following a joke from Chris Rock about his wife’s hair condition, Will Smith walked up on stage and violently slapped him during the Oscars’ live broadcast. Apart from the Academy’s public condemnation of his actions the day after, Smith had faced practically no immediate repercussions and was still allowed to accept his “Best Actor” Oscar, even though he assaulted someone on live television minutes earlier. Many are questioning whether the same thing would have happened if someone other than an A-list actor like Smith reacted this way to a seemingly lighthearted wisecrack. (Tymofiy Kornyeyev)
