Prince rocks the Bay Area

Last week, Prince Rogers Nelson surprised the Bay Area with last minute shows at Oakland’s Oracle Arena.

He simply felt like doing a few shows in the bay area so his “people” set up his “Welcome 2 America” tour at Oakland’s Oracle Arena home of the Warriors. Due to overwhelming demand, a Thurday show was added after his Monday and Wednesday performances sold out within hours.

Prince has been in the music scene since the seventies and has dominated pop culture ever since with his music, fashion and classic movie Purple Rain. He is a very talented dancer, singer-songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist.

The stage took the shape of Prince’s symbol (kind of looks something like this O(+>) as smoke and confetti came out of the stage.

He was joined by guests Carlos Santana, Sheila E., and Sly & The Family Stone.

Even though he hit some guy with a guitar, the shows were amazing. The crowd was definitely pleased.

I attended Wednesday’s show and I can honestly say it was the best day of my life. With last mintue tickets in the nosebleeds section, I arrived to the section and guards handed me new tickets saying “Prince thought this section couldn’t see as well so he closed it, here are your new tickets closer to the stage.”

Hopefully the Bay Area won’t have to wait years again for Prince to grace our presense with his talent.
