Maximus Kwan, Staff Writer

Maximus Kwan (Class of 2028) is a Carlmont sophomore and staff writer for Scot Scoop. He looks forward to his first year in the journalism program. Outside of school, you can find him playing in the Peninsula Youth Orchestra, listening to contemporary indie pop and ’90s rock, and cozying up to another great novel by Ursula K. Le Guin.

Shelley Bustamante, the director of Carlmont’s Teen Wellness Center and coordinator of Students Offering Support (SOS), has a wall in her office covered with the letters and photos of students she has helped in the past. "'SOS has saved my life.' 'Thank you so much for what you've done.' 'You helped me get through a tough time.' 'SOS has made me choose to become a therapist' — over and over, there's so many comments like that," Bustamante said. "For kids to take that extra time to write that is something I value, because kids are overextended."
