What resources are available to someone who is feeling suicidal?

Students can seek out their school’s counselors and Teen Wellness Center, if one exists, for mental health resources and support. Many schools also offer wellness programs or have therapists and crisis counselors on-site.

Those living in the United States should also call or text 988, the national suicide and crisis lifeline, to talk to a trained representative about their inclinations. For residents of San Mateo County, the local StarVista number is (650) 579-0350, which has the same function.

Call 911 if it is an emergency, or if anyone is in danger of hurting themselves or someone else.

A full list of suicide hotlines and emergency numbers by country can be found at Open Counseling.
