Cori Sidell is the tennis team’s number one ranked singles player this season.

Cori Sidell, numberĀ one ranked singles player on varsity tennis, won second place in the Peninsula Athletic League Individual Tournament from Oct 30-Nov 1.

Pareesa Darafshi also played for singles and Cassidy Sobey-Mary Farmar and Tarilyn Won-Mar Burgueno played for doubles at the tournament.

Darafshi, Sobey-Farmar, and Won-Burgueno were eliminated in the third round of the playoffs.

Sidell excelled in her matches throughout the playoffs, winning three of them. She lost the championship match to a player from Hillsdale High School.

Sidell said about her matches, “They were all pretty solid. The firstĀ two rounds were a little bit easier than the semi final I played. I was excited about beating the girl I lost to before Ā in the regular season and I think it was a good way to get into the finals. It was a good match to win.”

Overall, the tennis team has been doing well this season by winning 2nd place in the PAL Bay Division.

Sidell commented about the team, “We were undefeated for the most season, so we could have gotten first place, but we slipped at the end. We were undefeated till we played M-A. They switched their lineup and we were caught by surprise. In the same week, we lost to Burlingame.”

Next week, the tennis team plays in the Central Coast Sectional tournament and hopes to come out victorious.
