Cartoon: Bye-bye Bytedance

The House of Representatives has voted to ban social media app Tiktok from the United States: a controversial decision that caused uproar among the younger generations while somehow united the Democrats and Republicans. The ban offers Tiktok’s Chinese owner, Bytedance, to either sell the app or have it banned. Why? The House is attempting to protect US data from the Chinese government. If this bill is passed, it could escalate the US and China’s cold war over technology and information. However, as long as an American company buys TikTok, the app is here to stay.  (Shiyo Ohashi)
