Cartoon: In the shoes of feminism

This piece highlights women throughout history who expanded access to education, labor, and political voice, fighting not only for the right to work but also for the recognition of that work as essential and professional. Today, those same struggles continue to resonate in modern policy decisions. According to The Guardian, feminized workplaces are increasingly dismissed as less rigorous or “overly ideological,” revealing how gender still shapes perceptions of legitimacy and value in professional spaces. In addition, according to the U.S. Department of Education’s recent reclassification and restructuring announcements, several career pathways, many of which are traditionally dominated by women, are no longer categorized as professional degrees. A crucial example of this reclassification is highlighted on Nurse.org, where the exclusion of nursing exemplifies how essential, care-centered labor is systematically undervalued, particularly when women constitute the majority of the workforce.
