Cartoon: Tired of Later Start Times

California State Bill 328 is set to take effect next school year. The bill mandates that high schools start no earlier than 8:30 a.m., pushing back Carlmont’s 0-period start by 30 minutes. Although many students may appreciate the extra time to sleep in, the later start times also mean later end times. With school ending around 4 p.m. during the winter months, it will already begin to get dark, which can make students feel exhausted and interfere with their afterschool activities. (Calvin Jacobson)
