While for many students the school year is cooling down, for ASB members things are heating up as they work to put on an exciting end of the year celebration assembly.
For many students, the end of the school year is an interesting time as finals approach and their time as a student begins to slip away from them. Each year, ASB’s celebration assembly aims to wrap up the year by looking back on the highlights of the school year while entertaining students with performances by various clubs. The assembly includes slideshows and even sports award presented to certain athlete students.
“The main challenge is communication,” said ASB Assemblies Commissioner Anna Shutovska.
ASB has to coordinate with many different clubs and groups who will be performing including dance, choir, drum line, and jazz band. While in the past jazz band has performed in the assemblies, this will be the first time in a while that they will make their appearance for the celebration assembly. Having this multitude of student performers each doing a different performers, ASB has been careful to monitor all of them.
“We check in with everything often. We have to make sure everyone is doing what they are supposed to do,” said Shutovska.
ASB is constantly managing the various factors that involve the assembly to ensure that everything is running smoothly. With so many people involved there has to be a great deal of communication involved in order to make sure everyone is on the same page. The organization of performance schedules are all handled by ASB’s student staff. With all this going on ASB intends to make the assembly a fun experience.
“The theme of the assembly is tropical and [ASB] will be selling snow cones in the quad,” said Shutovska.
To lead up to the assembly ASB has planned a spirit week with events yet to be revealed. In order to make the assembly feel tropical as well ASB intends to use theme related decorations.
As the year continues to wind down, ASB clearly has no plans of slowing their work load in the least bit and will continue to keep the campus filled with events until the very last day.
