At the second Peninsula Athletic League meet of the season at Westmoor High School on Oct. 9, Carlmont placed first individually in almost every category.
The Scots did very in their races on the 2.4 mile course. The varsity boys team scored the lowest points in their category, placing first overall, as well as first individually. Junior varsity boys and girls also first individually.
However, varsity girls and frosh-soph boys did not do as well as some team members would have liked.
According to Carlmont junior Lindsay Hendershott, a lot of the frosh-soph boys “did beat their personal records on the course, and if they didn’t, they were really close.”
Hendershott also “thought Carlmont had a really strong showing.”
Carlmont senior Daniel Bereket placed first individually, and juniors Brandon Whiteley and Franklin Rice placed first and second, respectively, in the JV boys race.
Hendershott believes that the team is “strong and [that they] have a lot of young runners.” She predicts that “in the next couple of years, Carlmont’s going to be a force to be reckoned with.”
Carlmont also competed well at the first PAL meet of the season back on Sept. 11, 2012.
