This Friday the Carlmont Cup hosted its three-way face off between AVID, Varsity Girls Soccer, and Cross Country.

Only AVID never showed up and had to forfeit.

The showdown between Cross Country and Girls Varsity Soccer was intense.

There were five challenges: oreo stacking on foreheads, head to body shakes with a counter, a balloon race, a cookie face challenge, and balloon blow up until it pops.

In the oreo stack, Senior Sarah Schreck took this challenge head on and earned cross country their first point.

The second challenge used a total of four people and they each had thirty seconds to shake their head, wrist, thigh, and upper arm with a counter gadget. This challenge proved difficult and had to be redone after the first cross country runner up lost the counter due to shaking his head too hard. Soccer won this round, but many malfunctions were faced with the cross country team.

The third challenge was the balloon race where the contestants had three seconds to blow a balloon and then release it to the finish line. Again soccer won, making them take the lead.

The fourth challenge was the cookie face off where each team had two members sitting in chairs attempting to slide cookies down their foreheads and into their mouths. Cross Country gained back one point tying them two to two against girls soccer.

And the last challenge was blowing up a balloon until it pops, cross country seemed determined not to lose and proved successful in popping their balloon first making them the winners of the semi-finals.

Cross Country will be in the final showdown of the Carlmont Cup and although the mystery as to why AVID never showed up will go unanswered, neither of the teams were complaining.
