After finishing second place in the Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division for the season, the Carlmont’s varsity team clinched a spot in the Central Coast Sectional tournament.

Losing two of the last four matches to the teams at Burlingame High School and first place Menlo Atherton High school put the Lady Scots in second place in the Bay Division. First place Burlingame got an automatic berth into CCS, which forced Carlmont to play in the PAL tournament to obtain the last of two spots initially available. They went on the beat Half Moon Bay in the first round and Aragon High School in the second to clinch the coveted final spot.

The PAL tournament consists of teams who placed second through fourth in the Bay Division in addition to the first place team from the immediately lower Ocean Division. Second place Carlmont played the first place Bay Division champion Half Moon Bay high school on Tuesday Oct. 23, 2012. The third place and fourth place teams consisting of Burlingame and Aragon also played to see who would play in the PAL championship.

Carlmont finished off Half Moon Bay easily with a seven matches to zero win. Aragon also came out on top in their face off. The PAL tournament Championship was set between the Carlmont Scots and the Aragon Dons on Wed. October 28,2012. Carlmont went on to win the match on their home court against Aragon.

Assistant Coach Art Soriano knows what winning feels like expressing, “I have been coaching for seven years and we have made it to CCS each year. The team deserves more support.”

Carlmont’s team looks to stay strong heading into CCS. They hope to see more support from their school as the team with push as deep into the tournament as possible.
