Over the course of the last five or so months, every other week an article regarding the students’ opinions and an eclectic view on what would brighten the high school experience of the students has been published. Some comments were very helpful and innovative, however some were highly illogical.
Many called for an open-campus lunch, which is a viable idea. Enforcing rules may be more difficult than anyone could predict, but in theory it is substantial.
A strict GPA rule could be enforced, along with a no-detention policy, or a no-tolerance policy regarding those who go off campus. In addition, surrounding businesses could benefit, as would Carlmont if deals with said businesses were to be cut.
A less likely addition to Carlmont any time soon would be an alteration to the schedule that would consist of a break between 2nd and 3rd periods for a snack break. Though it is a novel idea, given the situation of a new incoming schedule it would complicate things even further.
One of the more popular ideas was the call for better/new lunches. Though the spicy chicken sandwiches and chicken caeser salads, a more varied lunch is actually a logical idea. We have a growing Pandora Garden here on campus, and many question exactly where the assortment of fresh food actually goes.
Tight nutrition requirements restrict the possibility of actually having tasty food at Carlmont, not to mention the tight budget that limits the ability to tasty nutritionally beneficial food. Its easy to say Carlmont does exceedingly well as a terms of providing lunch with what is available, selection and budget wise.
No idea is ever a dumb idea. Maybe a few illogical fantasies here and there, but if a Calrmont student has a revolutionary idea, all that student would need is dedication and he or she would be fairly heard out.
For now the Carlmont Comment Box is in retirement, and to be picked back up again next year, and if you or anyone you know has the next revolutionary idea, feel free to comment.
