Carlmont’s junior varsity football team had a disappointing game against the Woodside Wildcats, losing 19-0.
“Our guys played tough… but Woodside played a little bit better,” said JV head coach Rene George.
The Scots are now 2-2 after their second consecutive loss. Their first Peninsula Athletic League game is an away game against San Mateo High School on Oct. 5, 2012.
Carlmont’s team caused the Wildcats to miss two extra points and blocked a field goal attempt. The Scots’ offense fumbled twice and threw two interceptions, and was unable to push very far down the field. Willie Teo and Dakota Reagan ran the majority of Carlmont’s yardage.
There was controversy over the second interception thrown by Carlmont, which was believed to be caused by pass interference by many players and fans. The ruling was not overturned.
Woodside had success running the ball, scoring two rushing touchdowns and one 48-yard passing play for a third touchdown.
Despite the loss, the Scots left the stadium with their heads held high and are looking for redemption at San Mateo.
“We’ll keep fighting and improve every day,” said Coach George.
