In less than 30 minutes, the boys’ soccer team were defeated by football.
Boy’s soccer came out strong with a win at the balloon popping challenge which got the crowd riled up early. “Justin Quan was amazing,” said Daniel Montoya, one of the many students spectating the competition.
As the games continued, Football scored an unlikely victory in the bag pickup game, which is a game focused on flexibility rather than strength. After three substitutions, they halted Quan from winning his second game in a row.
They moved on to a game consisting of jelly and cotton balls. By transporting ten cotton balls stuck to their noses faster than soccer, football achieved their second victory.
Although deflated and on the verge of elimination, soccer gave up a fight as the final event, tug-a-war on recycling crates, commenced. “Tug-a-war against the football team was the hardest,” claimed Eric Smith, one of competitors for boy’s soccer.
With both competitors for soccer at least 8 inches shorter than the competitor for football, it wasn’t surprising who won. “The size difference between the two was entertaining,” said Montoya of the two competitors.
After a quick 4-0 run by the football team, the reigning champs were vanquished and football moved on to the second round.
