Disappointing news came on Feb. 5, 2013, when an alumni of Carlmont High School was eliminated from ‘The Bachelor.’
Daniella McBride graduated from Carlmont in 2006, after which she went to college, first attending Santa Barbara City College, and later going to California State University, Long Beach.
While at Carlmont, McBride participated in activities such as drama, choir, and dance. Along with her love for performing was a passion for swimming, as she was on the Carlmont swim team as well.
Sophomore and ‘Bachelor’ fan Raine Kerhin commented, “That’s so cool that she went to our school! It’s sad she was eliminated because if she would have made it to the top four the show would have come to Belmont.”
This season of the Bachelor aired on Jan. 7, 2013. She breezed through the first few rounds, and even made it to the top eight contestants, after which she was sent home because her connection with the bachelor, Sean Lowe, was not strong enough.
On ‘The Bachelor,’ there is one man who basically is dating all of the contestants and trying to find the one with whom he has the most love connection. Each week, he presents roses to the contestants he wants to keep and the girls who do not receive a rose are sent home.
“The show has a lot of drama and competition, since all of the girls are competing for one man whom they all love,” said Kerhin.
Although McBride was eliminated from the show, she is still an inspiration to many other Carlmont students, showing that dreams can come true, just as her dreams of television became a reality.
