On Oct. 3, 2012, theĀ girls’ varsity water polo team beat Sequoia with a score of 9-5.
The girls’ defense stayed solid throughout the first quarter which resulted in a score of 5-0. The team’s strong defense and even stronger offense is what led the Scots to a victory by the end of the fourth quarter.
The girls dominated the first half with a score of 5-2.
Halfway through the third quarter, sophomore Kristen Denney scored a goal, which bumped up their score to 6-2.
āWe played pretty well. We were nervous since it was our first game in the higher league, the Bay division,” Ā stated Kirra Loucks, a sophomore on the team.
The team was in the Ocean Division last year, but moved up to the Bay Division this year after ending in third place overall.
Even though the team’s season started off smoothly, there are still things that the team needs to improve on in order to defeat their future competitors.
āWe need to work on spreading out and communicating more,ā commented junior Chloe Scott.
With an undefeated season including five pre-season games, and their win against Sequoia, the Lady Scots are ready to face off against Castilleja School next week.
