Carlmont’s Associated Student Body has been planning and preparing for the first assembly of the 2012 school year. Kaela Ismael, Michael Saber, and Anna Shutovska, members of the assembly commission within ASB, have been hard at work bringing the assembly together.
According to Ismael, “communication through text or Facebook, teamwork, and innovative thinking” are some of the most important components to putting the assembly together.
Many students are excited about the assembly and what’s to come. The assembly commisson is always continuously thinking of new ways to get more people involved.
The topic for the assembly was chosen last year. Unlike last year’s assembly, featuring motivational speaker Keith Hawkins on the topic of family and the importance of true friends, this year’s is centered on the truth about a person’s body image.
“It’s a motivational assembly about body image and how one perceives themselves,” stated Saber.
This year, the commission has put up posters with facts about body image, featuring facts about both men and women. They cover topics ranging from Barbie in real life to men’s weight insecurities.
This upcoming assembly will be exciting for the student body and it will be interesting to see the impact it will have.
