It was a typical late business night on Sunday, Nov.27 at approximately 9:35 p.m. until a man described as a tall, Hispanic male, approximately 25-years-old, with a Hispanic accent was wearing a black hoody sweatshirt, black pants, and a dark cloth covering his face walked inside the Holly Gas and Diesel with a handgun.
The man confronted the cashier clerks and demanded for money. Shortly after arriving, the suspect became impatient and fired his gun upward. Luckily none of the clerks were injured.
“The suspect demanded one of the clerks to open the cash register. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled running on foot, southbound on Industrial Road,” Sergeant Vincent Bedolla of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department wrote in a press release.
The man was able to escape with an unknown amount of money. With an area check conducted, the suspect was not found anywhere near the scene of the crime and police are still searching for the suspect.
“I live in San Carlos and it worries me when things like this happen,” explained Camille Geudimatos, a concerned San Carlos resident. “I hope they can catch this person and hope it doesn’t happen closer to my house.”
Police are asking for any information that can lead to the arrest of this man. Any information known can be given to San Mateo Sheriff’s Office Investigation Bureau at (650) 599-1536.
