Carlmont’s varsity boys lacrosse team dominated the game against Priory Panthers and held firm from the beginning to end with a 16-10 win on March 19.

Scots had a strong, consistent lead throughout the game, in which the Panthers were unable to come back from.

This year’s lacrosse season has started off well for Carlmont with two wins prior to the game against the Panthers with dominant victories of 13-3 against Woodside Wildcats and 18-6 against Gunn Titans.

Throughout the game, multiple Carlmont players sustained minor injuries, and according to Carlmont Head Coach Todd Irwin, every player made a big difference.

“Deven Patner[, a defenseman for Carlmont,] was on one of [Priory’s] toughest players tonight until he got cramped and they did a run when he wasn’t in, so you can see the difference that one player makes,” Irwin said.

Carlmont scored their first point in the first minute of the quarter; however, there was no contributing significance during the first quarter of the game ending with a score of 4-3.

After a first-quarter score of 4-3 with Carlmont in the lead, the second quarter began with Carlmont scoring two points within the first few minutes.

Carlmont remained consistent with their defense, however, a slip-up allowed Priory to score a point during the second quarter. According to Irwin, their defense was outstanding due to Carlmont’s senior goalie Jamisen Blackwell’s consistent communication and saves. The second quarter ended with a score of 8-4.

Carlmont’s win was partially attributable to midfield senior, Charles Tocatlian, who has according to Irwin, has had an outstanding season thus far.

“Tocatlian is currently our leading scorer and he has an eye and nose for the net and generally has been lightening it up all season long,” Irwin said. “He was one of the reasons for our win today against Priory.”

Priory Coach Myles Somerville was very proud of his team and kept up the competitiveness throughout the game against Carlmont and noted the amount that Priory could learn from the game.

“Carlmont is a very good team from start to finish and we ran out of legs on one point. I was very proud of my guys for trying their hardest throughout the game,” Somerville said. “Some things that could have been worked on was working on our passes and committing stupid passes.”
