The Counter in San Mateo, after its fairly recent opening, has become a hot spot for teens to munch on some tasty burgers.
The Counter is a burger joint located across from the Hillsdale mall. But what makes this place special, is its make-it-yourself custom burgers. Visitors can add anything from simple lettuce to avocado and fried onion strings onto their deliciously unique burgers.
“I like the quality and variety of the burgers and other food,” said Peter Ravenelle.
For a set price, unless you get extra toppings and special orders, a customer can get a choice of burger meat (and a veggie burger for vegetarians), cheese, up to four toppings, a sauce and a bun. Premium toppings, such as mushrooms and chili, are for an extra $1.50.
Other than burgers, visitors can buy several different types of fries such as sweet potato fries and other starters, such as salad.
In the center of the two storied eatery, a bar stands. Also, people on the top level can sit leisurely and see the goings-on below. The Counter’s interior has some pictures on the walls of people doing activities such as skateboarding.
“I really like the look and feel of the restaurant. It’s really cool,” Ravenelle added.
For the students who have not gone, it is highly recommended.
Maggie Tsang said, “I haven’t gone, but I’ve heard it’s really good.”
The Counter’s delectable burgers and appealing atmosphere make it a common place for some students to grab a bite to eat and hit the mall with friends.
