The Chipotle Club is a new club at Carlmont that brings together the Chipotle lovers of the school. It features the food from the popular restaurant, Chipotle.
The founders, Brandon Magpayo, James “JT” Snider, and Alex Smith, decided to start the club one day after fourth period when they were craving Chipotle.
The club has over 70 likes on the Facebook page. Every week, about 20 people order food on Friday from the restaurant. The orders are then placed over the weekend and are delivered to Carlmont on Monday.
Carlmont sophomore Ravina Gujral decided to join the club because it seemed interesting.
“I like everything at Chipotle. It’s easy to get the food because I don’t have to drive there,” she said.
Chipotle has become a popular restaurant among many Carlmont students. The restaurant chain was founded by Steve Ells, who opened the first Chipotle in Denver, Colorado.
Options on the Chipotle menu include carnitas, chicken, steak and barbacoa. They can be put in tacos, burritos, salads or burrito bowls.
According to the Chipotle website, as his business continued to grow, Ells learned about how animals were often raised for the food. Ells set out to make “Food with Integrity.”
He said, “It’s our promise to run our business in a way that doesn’t exploit animals, people or the environment.”
As the Chipotle Club continues to grow, it is sure to become a Carlmont favorite.
