Businesses eagerly awaited children ready to trick-or-treat at the annual San Carlos Goblin Walk.
Families walked up and down Laurel St., San Carlos, trick-or-treating from 44 local businesses on Friday, Oct. 25 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Therapy Stores employee Sky Vega shared that in preparation for the event, a Good Neighbor Letter from the City of San Carlos Parks and Recreation invited businesses in downtown San Carlos to hand out candy.
“We sent the letter to our manager, and then we ordered the candy and put two employees here so that we could divide and conquer,” Vega said.
This was Vega’s first year participating in the Goblin Walk, and she was thrilled to be involved as one of the small businesses at the event.
“It was super fun being with the kids and seeing all the costumes,” Vega said.
Parents such as Katherine Pare were also eager to partake in this annual event. Pare and her family have been participating in the Goblin Walk for 12 years.
“It’s a nice environment, and it’s fun to see all the kids and community dressed up,” Pare said.
To ensure the safety of all participants, the City of San Carlos closed the 600-800 blocks of Laurel St. for the event. This closure occurred at 3 p.m. and reopened after the Goblin Walk concluded. The closure allowed children to safely walk the streets and enjoy the event with their families.
Young children were thrilled to spend the evening collecting candy alongside their friends and family in a safe manner.
Elementary student Aiden Stephenson came for his 5th year at the Goblin Walk with his family and friends.
“Some of our parents hosted it, so every year they send out a letter in a group chat inviting us,” Stephenson said.
Stephenson’s favorite part is hanging out with his friends, dressing up in costumes, and trick-or-treating for candy.
“People should come because it’s a really good experience,” Stephenson said.
